Become a pilot for flydubai

Before you apply, check the minimum selection criteria below.

All pilots

• Fluent in English to ICAO level 4 or above.
• Hold a ICAO ATPL certificate.
• Hold a 1^st Class Medical certificate from ICAO.
• Eligible for a UAE residency visa.

B737 type rated pilots

First Officers

• B737-300 to 900 (NG/EFIS) endorsed within the last 24 months.
• At least 1,500 hours total flying time.
• At least 500 hours on B737-300 to 900 (NG/EFIS) type aircraft.

Non-B737 type rated pilots

First Officers

• At least 2,500 hours total flying time.
• At least 1,000 hours on modern (EFIS), multi-crew, multi-engine aircraft over 10 tonnes operating weight (preference will be given to those with PIC time).

First officers - approximately AED 39,500 per month (tax free).

Bond - Pilots already rated on our aircraft will be subject to a non-contributory training bond of USD 24,000 which will depreciate in equal amounts over a period of 36 months, and non-rated pilots will be subject to a non-contributory training bond of USD 36,000 depreciating in equal amounts over a period of 36 months

flydubai has partnered with CTC Aviation Group plc (www.ctcaviation.com) on pilot selection. All initial pilot assessment activity takes place at CTC's Crew Selection Centre in the UK with successful applicants being invited to Dubai for final interview.



Candidates invited to an initial assessment in the UK attend at their own expense but, if successful, flydubai will provide a return ticket from an Emirates Airline network destination to Dubai for the final interview phase. flydubai will also provide hotel accommodation in Dubai for candidates during this final stage.



Initial selection in the UK

The initial phase of selection is carried out by CTC in the UK and is designed to be run over 2 consecutive days subject to successful completion of each stage.

Day 1 - consists of a welcome briefing, an aptitude/cognitive assessment and a series of group exercises in the morning followed by an interview for successful candidates in the afternoon.



Throughout the day, candidates will be notified of their success or otherwise and advised if they will be progressing on to the next stage of the process.

Successful candidates will be given a briefing pack to prepare for their simulator assessment overnight.



Day 2 - consists of a simulator assessment preceded by an in-depth briefing. During this stage candidates are paired and assessed in both a Pilot Flying and Pilot Monitoring role.



A complete itinerary will be provided to candidates prior to their arrival in the UK via an e-mail sent from CTC Aviation.

Final selection in Dubai

Final selection consists of a more detailed briefing about life in Dubai and working for flydubai followed by a panel interview.

A decision about the suitability of candidates will be made no more than 2 weeks after the final stage interview in Dubai and offers will be made subject to references being provided and other pre-joining requirements being met.

International assessment events

In addition to assessment activity in the UK, from time to time, flydubai will hold pilot assessment events in selected countries around the world so applicants invited to participate in the selection process may have the option to attend one of these.

The dates and locations of these events will be communicated at the time of initial invitation.
