flydubai connect

flydubai connect allows you to transfer in Dubai onto another flydubai flight without the hassle of collecting your baggage in Dubai and without the need for a UAE visa. The fare you pay will be one way and tax-inclusive. You'll just need to pay for the extras you choose.

So if you want to flydubai from Doha to Khartoum via Dubai, simply select your destination of origin and your final destination from the drop down menus when you search for a flight.

Once you've paid for your booking, booking confirmations will be issued for Doha to Dubai and Dubai to Khartoum.

Pre-purchase checked baggage and you can check it in at Doha and pick it up in Khartoum. It's only AED 60 for the first piece of checked baggage (weighing up to 32 kg and measuring no more than 90 cm x 75 cm x 43 cm).

flydubai connect is available between certain cities where the scheduled flight into Dubai arrives at least 1 hour before the scheduled flight out of Dubai and where the connection time in Dubai is less than 24 hours.

Starting your journey

When you arrive at the check-in desk, simply present the booking confirmations and travel documents for acceptance at your final destination. As you will be transferring in Dubai, you will not need a UAE visa.

Once your documents have been checked, your baggage will be tagged for your final destination - that means you won't have to collect it in Dubai.

In Dubai

When you reach Dubai, you'll need to go directly to the flydubai connect desk (before immigration and the transfer security point) where your boarding pass and travel documents will be checked. You'll then continue through security to the departure gate for your connecting flight.

Connecting to and from flydubai with an Emirates ticket

If you've purchased a ticket with Emirates and part of your journey is with flydubai, here are some things you need to know.

About your booking

As your booking is with Emirates, you'll need to contact Emirates to make any amendments to your travel plans. flydubai will not be able to assist.

About documentation

Whether you're checking in with Emirates or flydubai, you need to hold a valid Emirates e-ticket and the correct documentation for acceptance at your final destination.

About baggage

As you're travelling on an Emirates ticket, the Emirates baggage policy applies. So if you bring more baggage than the policy allows, you'll need to pay Emirates excess baggage charges.

About check-in

When you check-in, your baggage will be tagged for your final destination - that means you won't have to collect it in Dubai.

At some airports, you'll be handed the boarding passes for your entire journey. At others, you'll only be given the boarding pass for your journey to Dubai, and then on arrival in Dubai, Emirates will issue another boarding pass for your onward flight.

About your flydubai flight

With flydubai, you only pay for the optional extras you choose. So if you fancy a bite to eat when you're on board, there's a selection of hot and cold snacks, as well as soft and alcoholic drinks, available for purchase.

About arrival in Dubai

In Dubai, Emirates operates from Terminal 3 and flydubai operates from Terminal 2. If you arrive on an Emirates flight, you'll need to head to the central transfer desk in Terminal 3 (also known as transfer desk 'K') and if you arrive on a flydubai flight, you'll need to head to the transfer desk in Terminal 2.

At either desk, you'll be given a boarding pass for your onward journey (if you weren't given one when you checked in at the start of your journey). You'll then continue through security to board a bus for the relevant terminal before heading to the departure gate for your connecting flight.

Connecting with other airlines

If you want to transfer in Dubai to or from a flydubai flight, you'll need to make two separate bookings: one on flydubai and one on another airline. The flight you book to Dubai needs to arrive at least 3 hours before the scheduled departure of the second flight. If you don't have a UAE visa, the scheduled departure of the second flight needs to be within 24 hours of your arrival in Dubai. Without a UAE visa, you will not be allowed to leave the airport.

Starting your journey

When you arrive at the check-in desk, you'll need to let the agent know that you're transferring onto another flight in Dubai. You'll need to provide confirmation of your onward booking and/or ticket as well as your travel documents for acceptance at your final destination and at any transit points during your journey. Once your documents have been checked your baggage will be tagged for Dubai.

If you're travelling on another airline, a boarding pass for your connecting flight will not be issued until you reach the Dnata transfer desk in arrivals at Dubai International Airport.

In Dubai

When you reach Dubai, you'll need to go directly to the Dnata transfer desk (before immigration and the transfer security point) where you'll be checked-in for your next flight and your bags will be re-tagged for your final destination. You'll be asked to present the following documents:

• your confirmed onward ticket or flydubai booking confirmation
• valid travel documents for acceptance at your final destination
• your baggage tag - if you checked-in baggage at the start of your journey

If your baggage is oversize and/or overweight, you'll need to pay the relevant excess baggage charges at the transfer desk.

You'll then continue through security to the departure gate. Buses will be available to Terminals 1, 2 and 3.

Important things to know

flydubai will transfer your baggage to your connecting flight or will accept you and your baggage arriving on another airline as long as you:

• have a valid booking
• have the correct travel documentation
• have arrived in Dubai at least 3 hours before the scheduled departure of your next flight
• can be at the boarding gate no later than 45 minutes before take-off

flydubai will not be responsible:

• if you miss your connection in Dubai (even if the flydubai flight is delayed)
• for your transit expenses
• for the cost of repatriating you to your country of origin if you do not hold the correct documents for acceptance at your final destination
• for fines levied by authorities because you don't hold valid travel documents

It is your responsibility to ensure that there is adequate transfer time in Dubai to connect to your next flight. If you are connecting to another airline and the flydubai flight is delayed (meaning there is insufficient time to connect to your onward flight), you will not be allowed to start your journey. However, if you hold a valid UAE visa, flydubai will allow you to start your journey, but you will be responsible for re-arranging your onward connection.

This is how you connect with flydubai. Other airlines may do things differently so you'll need to contact them to confirm that they'll allow you to connect to flydubai.
