Things to see and do in Batumi
- For panoramic views of Batumi and the Black sea, hop onto the Argo Cable Car that will take you to the top of Anuria Mountain, 250 m above the sea level. Once on top, treat yourself to a coffee with a view or visit the small church situated right next to the viewing deck.
- Go for a long relaxing walk at the Seaside park, also called Boulevard by locals. It stretches for 7 km along the north-western coast of Batumi and has plenty of cafés, playgrounds and a host of various sports and entertainment events.
- Visit Gonio Fortress – the oldest fortress of Georgia, located 15 km away from Batumi in the village of Gonio, just 4 km south of Turkish border.
- If you fancy a day at the beach head to Mtsvane Kontskhi. Due to its location, right next to Batumi Botanical Garden, the locals often refer to it as “Green Paradise”. After a day of sunbathing and swimming you can relax in the shade of the park and enjoy the unique flora of more than 2,000 tree species.
- See the famous moving sculpture Ali and Nino in motion. Every day at 7pm the statue comes to life with two figures moving towards each other to create a single piece just for a moment, before they part again. It’s inspired by the love story of a Muslim boy, Ali, and a Christian girl, Georgian princess, Nino, from a famous 1937 novel by Azerbaijani author Kurban Said.
