Travelling to/from Saudi Arabia during Umrah season

Below are the travel requirements for passengers travelling to/from Saudi Arabia during Umrah season.

Travel restrictions and entry requirements

  • Passengers holding Umrah visa can travel to/from any destination in Saudi Arabia.
  • Passengers must comply with the below health requirements and guidelines specified by the Ministry of Health of Saudi Arabia:

Yellow Fever

Passengers must hold a vaccination certificate against yellow fever issued at least 10 days before arrival if arriving within 6 days after leaving or transiting through:

Africa: Angola, Benin, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chad, Congo, Côte d’Ivoire, DR Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Ethiopia, Gabon, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Kenya, Liberia, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra Leone, South Sudan, Sudan, Togo and Uganda. 

Americas: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, French Guiana, Guyana, Panama, Paraguay, Peru Surinam, Venezuela, Trinidad and Tobago.

This does not apply to:

  • Children under 9 months of age.
  • Passengers transiting countries with risk of yellow fever transmission within 12 hours if not leaving the transit areas.
  • Citizens and residents of Saudi Arabia and GCC Nationals. 

Polio Virus 

All passengers arriving in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia after departure from, or transit through countries where poliovirus is circulating are vaccinated against poliovirus.

A polio vaccination certificate is required showing that they received a dose of bivalent oral poliovirus vaccine (bOPV) or inactivated polio vaccine (IPV), if arriving from Afghanistan, Angola, Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Central African Rep., Chad, Congo, Congo (Dem. Rep.), Ethiopian, Guinea, Kenya, Liberia,  Mali, Mauritania, Mozambique, Niger, Nigeria, Pakistan, Somalia, South Sudan and United Republic of Tanzania.

The vaccination certificate for oral polio vaccine must be issued at least 4 weeks prior to arrival and not exceeding 6 months or a vaccination certificate for inactive polio vaccine issued at least 4 weeks prior to arrival and not exceeding 12 months. 

This does not apply to: 

  • Transit passengers transiting through these countries providing the transit time does not exceed 12 hours, and they do not leave the transit area; and transit passengers transiting through the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia from these countries provided they do not leave the transit area within 12 hours. 
  • Citizens and residents of Saudi Arabia and GCC Nationals. 

It's your responsibility to obtain the correct visa and documents. If you arrive at the airport and don't have the correct documentation you'll not be able to travel and there will be no refund offered.

Umrah visa holders' last entry and exit dates during Hajj season

  • The last date of entry is 13 April 2025.
  • The last date of exit is 29 April 2025.

Zamzam water

Each passenger is permitted to carry 5 litres of Islamic Holy Water (Zamzam water) at no additional cost on their return flight from Madinah, Taif, or Yanbu.  

If you are travelling from Jeddah, you can carry Zamzam water only if you hold Umrah/Hajj visa. Please note that Zamzam water must be in a standard 5-litre King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz Zamzam Water Project bottle.

Important: Zamzam water must be checked in separately and not packed inside the checked baggage.
