Language

Nepali is the official language of Nepal, spoken widely in Kathmandu, although many other regional languages are used throughout the country.

Kathmandu’s weather varies throughout the year, with temperatures ranging from average highs of 29°C in July to average lows of 2°C during winter.

Getting around

Rickshaws are everywhere in Kathmandu and are best for short rides around town. Taxis can whiz you from one sight to another too, as well as a network of local buses.

Airport information

Book flights to Kathmandu and you’ll fly in and out of Tribhuvan International Airport (KTM). The city centre is only a 15-minute journey away, easily accessed by taxi or bus.
