You can get around Istanbul by tram, metro, private or state-owned buses. The public transportation network in Istanbul covers the majority of the city making it a convenient means of getting around. You can buy an Istanbulkart to use on buses, trams, the metro and the cross-Bosphorus ferry. You can also flag down a taxi from the street or have your hotel arrange one for you. If you use taxis, always make sure that the metre is turned on.
